When the trip is about the passengers, the Hyundai Sonata 2021 is the car to rent: a family with grandparents, colleagues heading to a meeting in Batumi, anyone who values a quiet cabin. It is long and low, so it floats over Georgian highways, and the ventilated seats earn their keep in a Tbilisi August.
A 2.5 litre petrol engine and automatic gearbox give it easy overtaking on the road to Kutaisi, at around 8.2 litres per 100 km. Five seats with real legroom in the back, and the boot swallows three suitcases. Front-wheel drive and a low nose mean it stays on tarmac; Kakheti, Borjomi and the coast are fine, Juta and Tusheti are not.
For business travel the paperwork is as simple as the car: no deposit, no prepayment, free cancellation 24 hours before pickup. Full cover with zero excess is available as an extra for anyone who prefers to hand the keys back without a discussion.
