The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe 2021 is for people who come to Georgia for the roads most rental cars should never see. It is a black Sahara with the Sky one-touch power top: press a button and the roof slides back, which on the climb to Omalo or up the Truso valley is half the point of the trip. Around Tbilisi it pulls away on electric power and stays quiet.
Five seats, five doors and room for three large bags. The 2.0 litre turbo plug-in hybrid with an automatic gearbox averages about 5.5 litres per 100 km, very little for a body this square. It is a proper 4x4 with low range, so the Abano Pass into Tusheti, the track to Omalo and the road on to Ushguli are within its reach, driven in daylight and without hurry.
Holding it costs nothing, because there is no deposit and no prepayment. Basic insurance is included, but for a week on mountain tracks we suggest adding full cover with zero excess.
